the drive home - after a weekend's visit to SF, I head home.

I guess they don't make merge signs like this that often, which makes sense since people usually aren't merging from the left. If you look closely, you can see there were some edits made to the sign.
Which only raises the question of "was I looking closely enough at the sign or the road". The road. I was snapping shots without really looking and certainly without aiming. And for every picture you see here, there were many that just didn't come out.
This photo is a case in point. I was trying to grab a photo of the big building with the Organic logo/sign on it. Well, I got the building but not the sign. Does Organic still have enough money/staff to fill that building?
The Bay Bridge made it especially hard to take photos. The side wall is pretty high. You have to have an SUV to be high enough to see over it. And maybe that's why people buy SUVs?
Okay, here I entered the tunnel through Treasure Island. Just some weird, arty shots for you.
I wasn't even entirely sure which side is up on many of these. Not to say I was keeping my camera steady or level in the first place.
For those of you not from the San Francisco Bay Area, Treasure Island is not the island from the children's book (or the Disney films) but rather former home to a World's Fair and also a former military base. Now it's being turned into condos and was home to former shows like Battle Bots.
The last of my arty shots. Wait, perhaps they are all supposed to be arty, just some more than others...
They are starting to replace half of the Bay Bridge (realized it won't stand up in the next earthquake, and part of it didn't during the last one). That's a crane view.
Another crane view. Can I call it a gratuitious crane shot?
Perhaps I should had led this entry with this photo. Would have made sense. It sets the tone for where I am headed, etc. I'm on my way from my hometown of San Francisco to my new home of Sacramento after a short weekend visit, driving on a rainy day...
Once you get over the bridge you're in this land of giant cranes and of these giant crates that look like legos, except that they are the size of trailers (are trailers) and would crush the 12-year old kid that tried to build with them.
Again, not sure which way is up, but I think it looks better from this angle.
The sky was just so dramatic. All of the clouds... the mix of bright light and darkness. It's one of the things I like best about rain. It's one of the things I like best about visiting Orlando/DisneyWorld (see my Orlando photos to understand).
More clouds. Yes, clouds. Don't you want some more? I'll see if I can find some.
Clouds & Signs. Yes, you knew I was gonna have some more cloud photos. Again, these weren't shots I could really stage or set up, I was driving you know. Just getting lucky (no, not in that way, I was driving!)
No caption necessary.
So I hoped to hit Six Flags Marine World for a few hours on my way back. Unfortunately, even though it wasn't raining at that time, they had the park closed. So no roller coasters for me.
I still can't get over how green the hills are still... it's just weird. I know I haven't lived out here for 5 years, but where's all the brown? I guess I should just be patient, it's coming.
Taking photos and driving is probably not something that happens everyday. But then again, I am not your everyday kind of guy. I'm one of those ones you only bring out for special occasions. Like a monkey or a circus elephant.
Looks kind of like one of those funky 70s microphones they'd have on game shows, and it's reaching up to the sky so that God can give an interview (or answer a trivia question).
